Ponder This Everyday

7 10 2010

My Dad sent me a link to a very short, but effective, 30 second speech by Bryan Dyson (former CEO of Coca Cola), here it is:

“Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling some five balls in the air. You name them – Work, Family, Health, Friends and Spirit and you’re keeping all of these in the Air.

You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back.

But the other four Balls – Family, Health, Friends and Spirit – are made of glass. If you drop one of these; they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, damaged or even shattered. They will never be the same. You must understand that and strive for it.”

WORK EFFICIENTLY DURING OFFICE HOURS AND LEAVE ON TIME. GIVE THE REQUIRED TIME TO YOUR FAMILY, FRIENDS & HAVE PROPER REST.

If you feel like it’s applicable to you then you should probably take a look at that. I know you’ve been working super long hours lately and appreciate it. I just thought the analogy was interesting.
